If you are of normal weight, eating less will not help you lose body fat and become more toned and muscular. Actually the opposite is true; eating less may cause your body to store more fat and lose muscle. So, in order to build muscle and lose fat you have to eat more because your body will need more nutrients to repair itself from workouts. Make sure you eat healthy food.
