Tip of the Week

Measure your waist with a tape measure--about the level of your navel. Over 40 inches for men or over 35 for women and you have too much abdominal fat. Time to lose weight. Aerobic exercise is good for that. Here`s another simple guideline. If you`re a woman, take 100 lb for the first 5 ft of height and add 5 lb for every additional inch. (Subtract 5 lb if you`re under 5 ft.)If you`re 5`4", that`s 120 lb. For men, it`s 106 for 5 ft and 6 lb for every extra inch. If you`re 5`10", that`s 166. If you`re more than 10% over that weight, either think about losing a little, or at least not gaining any more. This guideline isn`t accurate for those of you who are strength athletes, work out a lot, or are otherwise heavily muscled. Another good way to tell if you should lose weight: look in the mirror.
