April 23, 2004, Newsletter Issue #99: Core Exercises

Tip of the Week

You will want to do some exercises that isolate muscle groups, like biceps curls, but these are not the basis of weight training. Weight training treats the body as a unit. Any time you do moderate to heavy free weight exercises, any time you do your exercises standing, and even with heavy machine exercises, you should tighten the muscles of your abs and back to stabilize your torso. Doing this helps strengthen your core.
