July 2, 2004, Newsletter Issue #109: Circuit Training

Tip of the Week

Typically, with circuit training you do maybe 30 seconds strength work on an exercise, take a short rest or do some cardio, then go on to the next exercise. (Sounds like Curves, doesn`t it?) You get some strength improvement, but not as much as with conventional strength training, and some aerobic conditioning, but not as much as with conventional cardio programs. When should you do it? As a change of pace for variety; when you are really short on time and can`t manage more than 20-30 minutes 3 times a week for exercise; when you really enjoy it and don`t much like other forms of exercise.
